Celebrate the Day of the Dead at the Avada Festival

Feathers and Fur – Painting Workshop
Saturday, October 14
8:30am-5:30pm

Following a proven process for painting photo-realistic birds, we will paint a small bird with a mixer brush, then add realistic painted feathers with brush strokes, further enhance these feathers with overpaint layers in various blend modes, and dodge and burn and shade as needed. We will add texture to our painted feet and beak and add a painted background and lighting for those finishing touches.

This class will include:

  • Hands on practice painting feathers with a mixer and regular paint brushes, then overpainting and shading feathers
  • Texturizing beaks and feet and painting eyes
  • Painting backgrounds
  • Learning a step-by-step process for painting feathers or fur

This workshop is a continuation of Friday’s “Feathers and Fur – Painting Setup”. Attendees are welcome to attend this workshop even if you missed Friday’s class.

Meet Terri Butler

I’m a retired Navy Medical Service Corps officer turned Consultant in the Healthcare Technology vertical.  I was an independent consultant for about 11 years and loved the “non-corporate” life.  But even the days of consulting are behind me now as I embrace full-time retirement and spend my days on two primary activities: Photography and Corvettes! Oh and I can’t forget travel… which has taken up a fair amount of my first couple of years of retirement.
